WATCH: Senator Schumer talks about microchip shortages and the auto industry | New
Sen. Charles E. “Chuck” Schumer, DN.Y., was joined by representatives from the region’s auto industry to talk about how the just-passed bipartisan CHIPS and Science legislation will make investments leaders in the manufacture of microchips in the United States.
Schumer explained how the legislation could benefit upstate New York with expansion and new chip manufacturing sites. The purpose of the legislation, he said, is to strengthen supply chains to avoid chip shortages such as the one that has slowed auto manufacturing in the United States and caused long delays during which it took months for consumers to take delivery of a new vehicle.
