Things to watch for at tonight’s Bass Pro Night Race in Bristol

No playoff winner: Two races and two non-playoff drivers went on victory lane to kick off the playoffs, leaving 16 drivers, including four under the cut line all rushing for a win. Erik Jones kicked off the playoffs with a win in the Southern 500 and last week Kansas’ Bubba Wallace would visit victory lane for the first time this season.

Locked in and cut: With tonight’s cut, only Christopher Bell locked in the next round. Meanwhile, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch have had nothing but bad luck. Harvick’s car would catch fire in Darlington, which he spent time explaining why it keeps happening and how to fix it. In Kansas, he is caught up in another wreck, once again ending his day. Harvick’s only chance is a ninth-inning home run situation which he enters tonight needing a win.

Kyle Busch is closing in on the same position earlier this week it was made official that he would be leaving Joe Gibbs and Toyota to join Richard Childress and Chevrolet in the 2023 season if JGR failed to come to an agreement and to acquire the necessary sponsorship for next year after M&Ms decided earlier this year that they would also be quitting the sport.

Kyle is in a much better position though just two points from the cut line, giving him plenty of change to make up for in the race and even with help from others if they get knocked out. Kyle also leads all active drivers with eight wins at Bristol.
