Serious collision of 4 vehicles Saturday on Spaulding Turnpike

Three people were hospitalized after four vehicles collided on the Spaulding Turnpike in Dover, New Hampshire State Police said. Police say Christos Kolegue-Spalaris, 24, of Newfields, did not appear to slow while backing up traffic and crashed his Subaru WRX sedan into the car in front of him. Kolegue-Spalaris had a child passenger in the car with him. Police said they were both sent to Wentworth-Douglas Hospital as a precaution and have since been released. He crashed into the Chrysler PT Cruiser in front of him. Officials said Ann Mayranen, 57, of Sanbornville, was driving the car and had to be removed after being seriously injured. Mayranen is now in stable condition at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Mayranen crashed into the GMC Yukon ahead of her, which police say was driven by Christopher Ellis, 41, of Dover. Ellis hit the Chevrolet Equinox in front of him, operated by Renee Cooper, 54, of Somersworth. Crews said they medically cleared Ellis and Cooper at the scene. New Hampshire State Police A Troop said Dover Fire and Rescue, Dover Police and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation assisted them.
