May has been quite an exciting month for beloved Birmingham City Schools educator Reggie White. Not even two weeks after winning Alabama Elementary Teacher of the Year, White is now the proud owner of a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The vehicle was gifted to White by ALFA Insurance and the Farmers Federation of ‘Alabama for his new position as Education Ambassador, which requires him to spend the next year out of the classroom and traveling across Alabama. White is completing his fourth year at Booker T. Washington K-8 School in Titusville as a fifth-grade math and science teacher, and he takes his job very seriously knowing how much of an impact he has on his students. . “I put my heart and soul into everything I do to make a difference in children’s lives,” White said. “I think that’s the key. You have to love kids, be willing to involve them, and let them have fun and have a great learning experience.” White is the second BCS teacher to be named Alabama Teacher of the Year.
