Police chase ends in fatal accident

The driver of a stolen vehicle was killed on Monday when he crashed into another vehicle while being chased by police. Byram Police attempted to stop a green Honda at 11.55am on Siwell and Terry Roads, but authorities said the driver of the stolen vehicle pressed the accelerator and drove on. The chase continued to Jackson, where at 12:04 p.m. the car collided with a gray Chevrolet truck at Lee Drive and Savanna Street, according to Byram Police Chief David Errington. the driver of the Honda — Earl Wigley Jr., 42, of Belzoni — was killed. A male passenger was taken to hospital, Errington said. The driver of the van was also taken to hospital. Jackson Police assisted Byram Police at the scene of the accident. Police say the Honda was stolen on May 9 in Jackson.

Byram Police attempted to stop a green Honda at 11:55 a.m. on Siwell and Terry Roads, but authorities said the driver of the stolen vehicle put on the gas and drove on.

The chase continued to Jackson, where at 12:04 p.m. the car collided with a gray Chevrolet truck at Lee Drive and Savanna Street, according to Byram Police Chief David Errington.

“The suspect in the green Honda Accord failed to stop at the stop sign and overran the Chevy Silverado,” Errington said.

Police say the driver of the Honda – Earl Wigley Jr., 42, of Belzoni – was killed. A male passenger was taken to hospital, Errington said.

The driver of the van was also taken to hospital.

Jackson Police assisted Byram Police at the scene of the accident.

Police say the Honda was reported stolen on May 9 in Jackson.
