JR Motorsports today confirmed its renewal with a familiar partner for 2022. Unilever, one of the world’s leading suppliers of food, refreshments, home products and personal care, will enter its 14e year of partnership with the organization next season. With the announcement comes the news that NASCAR Hall of Fame member Dale Earnhardt Jr. will drive the # 88 Chevrolet Hellmann’s Fridge Hunters in the NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Martinsville Speedway (April 8, 2022).

The two-time series champion will continue as a brand ambassador and spokesperson, while Unilever’s additional off-piste efforts will focus on awareness campaigns and charitable initiatives. In addition to Earnhardt Jr.’s race, the contract renewal includes the main brand of the No.7 team with Justin Allgaier for six NXS races in 2022.

“I like short pieces. At the end of the day, short track racing is what I love to do, ”said Earnhardt Jr., who broke the announcement during this week. Unilever has been a great partner and I thank them for allowing me to run in Martinsville. I’ll get to the heart of the matter and have fun.
As one of Hellmann’s most recent initiatives, Refrigerator hunters is a campaign encouraging consumers to look inside their refrigerators to prepare a meal with food they would otherwise have thrown away. It is estimated that 40 percent of all food waste in the United States occurs in the home. Fridge Hunters is an extension of the Make Taste Not Waste awareness campaign and is part of a larger Unilever commitment to help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of reducing food waste by 50% of by 2030.

“JRM is a trusted and collaborative partner, and we are delighted that Dale Jr. will return to Hellmann’s colors next year and continue to raise awareness of how refrigerator hunting can help reduce food waste.” says Ben Crook, Senior Director of Marketing for Hellmann’s North America. “Hellmann’s recognizes that simple change can have a big impact and is proud to do its part to help reduce food waste. We hope the NASCAR community will join us in looking inside the fridge to prepare one meal a week from ingredients that are normally thrown away. “

Starting today, fans can vote on Earnhardt Jr.’s paint scheme for the planned event. Since 2009, Unilever has been JRM’s longest-standing partner and one of the longest-serving active sponsors of NXS. As it has done from the start, Unilever will use its racing partnership to market several mainstream brands with the JRM team.

Earnhardt Jr. has run at least one NXS race with Unilever every year since 2009. Earlier this year he drove a special race United for America paint scheme in honor of the victims of September 11 at Richmond Raceway on September 11, 2021, the 20e Anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
