Henderson County Deputy on emergency call involved in 2-vehicle crash on SH 334

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) – A Henderson County Sheriff’s Office deputy on his way to assist another deputy was involved in a two-vehicle accident on State Route 334 in Henderson County on Friday evening.

“Last night a deputy was traveling east on Highway 334 with lights and a siren on to assist another deputy who was calling for help,” a post on the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page said. of Henderson County. “A Chevrolet truck pulled up in front of the deputy on the 334 at an intersection with no red light.”

According to the Facebook post, the driver of the van had been drinking alcohol before the accident.

Soldiers from the Texas Department of Public Safety were called to the scene to investigate the wreckage. Personnel from the Gun Barrel City Police Department and Gun Barrel City Fire Department responded to the scene.

“The MP is doing well at the moment,” the Facebook post said.

Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said his deputy was not injured in the collision.

The van driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries after emergency personnel freed him from his crashed truck.

Hillhouse said he did not know the extent of the van driver’s injuries, adding that the man was “alert and talking” when EMS personnel took him by ambulance to hospital.
