‘For a split second, everything was shaking’, car smashes into wall of killer driver at home in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (KLAS)— A single-vehicle accident resulted in one death after the driver collided with the wall of a house near Desert Inn and Maryland.
Police said the driver was traveling at high speed on Desert Inn Road and lost control of the vehicle before crashing into the wall on Monday.
Officers arrived at 1388 East Desert Inn around 4 p.m. after being notified of the accident.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and police say no one else was injured in the crash.
Evidence at the scene indicated that a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling westbound on Desert Inn and failed to stay in its lane, running off the roadway. The vehicle then struck the property’s landscaping, struck a tree and slammed into the apartment building.
Residents of the house were away at the time of the incident and police evacuated neighbors as the building inspector deemed the house unsanitary.

8 News Now spoke to residents of the complex, who live on the floor from where the crash happened, and said they felt the impact immediately, but luckily no one did. been hurt in the process.
“For a split second, everything was shaking, and I was like, fuck it, was that a bomb,” said Alj Cumpio who lives upstairs.
He says the damage to his flat was light with a crack in the wall, but even so he and his family were told to evacuate immediately.
Speeding along Desert Inn has been a chronic problem, Jodi Templeton, a resident living nearby, told 8 News Now.
“We just heard a really big crash, but again, that’s a common thing here,” Templeton shares. “It’s already a 45mph speed limit and people go well beyond that quite often.”
The Red Cross is helping families who are now displaced. The driver’s death marks the 62nd traffic-related death in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for the year.
The identity of the driver has not been revealed, the accident is still under investigation.
As of 11 p.m. Monday, Desert Inn remained closed in both directions near the Arapaho circle.
