You’re here and Rivian both are targeting the electric pickup market. Rivian’s R1T is a design evolution of contemporary pickups like the Chevrolet Silverado and Ford F-150. With a traditional design that uses EV technology to create a powerful and engaging EV to drive. Tesla’s Cybertruck looks set to hit the market after numerous delays throughout the pandemic.

The R1T uses Rivian’s platform which also supports production of the R1S, the SUV version of the car. Designed as off-road vehicles with almost 15 inches of ground clearance, Rivian’s models look like the best electric pickup truck on the market. But with a starting price of nearly $80,000. However, the Tesla Cybertruck aims to beat it, with better acceleration, towing performance and more features. Do it at almost half the price.

With better towing capacity, better acceleration and better design, the 2023 Cybertruck beats the Rivian R1T.

Tesla Cybertruck has a performance advantage over Rivian R1T

Tesla’s long-awaited Cybertruck finally seems ready to hit the market. With its somewhat controversial unveiling, the car took to the stage. Enjoying the strength of the car before breaking the car window. However, with all that aside, Tesla writes, the Cybertruck offers “better utility than a truck with more performance than a sports car.”

The particular triangular design incorporates a flat loading area. Tesla designed this space to store a “Cyberquad”, another mythical vehicle of the brand. With lockable storage, a towing capacity of 14,000 lbs and a total payload capacity of 3,500 lbs, the Cybertruck can handle whatever you’re going through. The performance of the Rivian R1T is behind it all.

With a reduced towing capacity of just 11,000 lbs, that’s 3,000 lbs less than the Tesla. Additionally, Rivian’s R1T falls behind when it comes to straight-line speed, hitting 60 mph in about 3 seconds. The Tesla Cybertruck comes in slightly ahead with a 60mph sprint time of 2.9 seconds. Just like with the Tesla Model S Plaid, the company will surely iterate on the model and make it even faster. Maybe even sell a Plaid Cybertruck.

Tesla Cybertruck has better range than Rivian R1T

Rivian is already in the electric van market with the R1T. Rivian is another start-up trying to fill this gap in the market. According to Rivian, the R1T is “A truck built for anything you call a road.” With the truck already on sale instead of existing only in the promises of Elon Musk, Rivian presents accurate statistics. The R1Ts can travel between 260 and 400 miles per charge. Various elements such as the size of the wheels will have an impact on the autonomy of the car. But also the range varies depending on the terrain.

The Cybertruck’s range once again promises better numbers than that, approaching 500 miles. Currently, only one manufacturer is selling an electric vehicle with a range of 500 miles, and that’s Lucid. According to Tesla, the Cybertruck “now enters a new class of strength, speed and versatility – only possible with an all-electric design.” With the first announcement of the Cybertruck, the van would sell for around $40,000. Essentially half the price of the Rivian. A Tesla customer most likely gets more than half the car.

The Tesla Cybertruck looks like the future

Rear view of the 2022 Tesla Cybertruck all-electric pickup truck
By: Tesla

Tesla’s design incorporates a bunch of new features that increase the usefulness of the car. With a suspension setup that can raise and lower four inches at each end of the car, with unrivaled loading and unloading access. Along with everything a person may need for their outdoor adventures, such as on-board power and compressed air.

By comparison, the Rivian R1T looks more outdated, boasting features like phone connectivity and the Meridian sound system. The Rivian’s marketing aligns more with traditional manufacturers, effectively selling the car on its merits. The Rivian may have better overall build quality than the Tesla. Excluding recent recall relating to car seat belts. Rivian talks about the virtues of cabin interiors taking on mud-repellent properties, like the new Land Rover Defender.

Tesla does not claim the robustness of its cabin. After all, very few Cybertrucks will have a tough life. A futuristic lifestyle truck with a hefty price tag, the car would likely rarely be used for agricultural, industrial, or even rural purposes. Just like the new GMC Hummer EV which incorporates the crab steering function for parking spaces. The Cybertruck will have an urban audience, who will buy it for the prestige.

Tesla’s marketing for the Cybertruck takes a different tack. Heralded by selling the future, the Cybertruck and its buyers must embrace the futurism of the pickup truck and its creator. This philosophy takes its final form in the car’s exoskeleton, a triangle that revises conventional design trends found with the Rivian R1T. The seven rows needed in a three box design are suddenly reduced to three rows.

Tesla and Rivian clearly have different audiences. However, Tesla has better features and specs for a lower price. The only downside is that you can’t get one yet. Production at Tesla’s Texas-based Gigafactory appears to be about to begin, but the company won’t be taking any new orders for some time.

“Kelani Savya”, the CSR program of Kelani Cables PLC has been extended for another five years due to strong demand from the corporate sector. It was supposed to end this year.

For 26 years, Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli has been the shirt sponsor of Serie A club Inter Milan. That deal ended last year when Pirelli was replaced by crypto fan token company Socios, which paid $16 million to have “$Inter Fan Token” on the front of the team’s jersey while that “by Socios.com” appeared in smaller font under the fan token mark.

Socios manufactures crypto fan tokens for other top European football teams such as Juventus, AC Milan, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester City and Arsenal. The company also makes inroads into major US leagues through fan loyalty and rewards sponsorships with teams in the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLS. All of these leagues except the NFL are increasingly adopting the jersey patch sponsorships. While the Socios brand can already be found in top US venues such as Madison Square Garden, Crypto.com Arena and SoFi Stadium, CEO Alex Dreyfus is adamant that jersey sponsorships won’t be part of the deal. US expansion of the fan token company.

“Absolutely not,” Dreyfus told SportTechie. “We don’t see the point in us sponsoring shirts because when you do that, you do it for brand recognition. We don’t care about brand recognition. We want people to buy the token of the team they are supporting.

Dreyfus instead plans for Socios to buy luxury ticket boxes at American sports stadiums, like the box the company once purchased at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The company’s long term goal is for US fans to watch games from these boxes as a benefit to being a fan token holder of this team.

“We will pay for VIP boxes, here with the Nets we have a box [at Barclays Center], he said. “With the token that we will build one day, we will give [fan token holders] access to these VIP boxes, and we will have more than 30 all over the world. But it is not about spending money on a jersey, because it will not bring users. It’s four years of experience, and I can truly attest to that. It’s not going to attract users.

Socios was Inter Milan’s kit sponsor for just one season. The top-tier Italian club have instead agreed a shirt patch deal with cryptocurrency brand DigitalBits for the 2022-23 season. However, Inter Milan haven’t received any payments from DigitalBits and claim the company owes them $17m. Former soccer star and Inter Miami owner David Beckham joined DigitalBits as a brand ambassador in March to promote NFTs for the company’s “metaverse.”

“DigitalBits has nothing to do with ‘fan tokens.’ It’s an empty shell company that signed deals they weren’t able to afford with a ZERO product,” Dreyfus recently wrote. on his LinkedIn.

Severe weather raises question about electric vehicle charging

Record-breaking heat waves in California and severe hurricanes in Florida point to weakness in electric vehicle adoption: How do people charge during extreme weather events when electricity can be lost?

This is not a theoretical question. California leads the nation in electric vehicles. During a record-breaking Labor Day heat wave, state officials asked owners of electric vehicles to avoid charging during peak hours of electricity consumption to avoid power outages.

Three weeks later, Hurricane Ian landed as a Category 4 storm on Florida’s southwest coast and knocked out power for weeks in the hardest hit areas.

As the adoption of electric vehicles grows, charging before, during and after natural disasters presents a challenge, especially given the shortage of public charging stations, lack of access to home charging and of the increasing regularity of these events.

“We’re starting to see the impacts of climate change more and more frequently,” said Katherine Stainken, vice president of policy for the Electrification Coalition trade group of Washington, DC.

Natural disasters often create mass evacuations for which people need reliable transportation. With hurricanes and tropical storms, people have days to evacuate. But there may be no notice in some cases, such as rapid fires or catastrophic earthquakes. If the same events knock out the power, EV owners’ efforts to leave may be hampered.

The sale of two Toyota and two Lexus dealers marks the 170e transaction led by Kerrigan Advisors, the leading advisor to Toyota and Lexus dealerships nationwide since 2015

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nevada, November 01, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Kerrigan Advisors, the nation’s leading sell-side advisor and thought partner to auto dealerships, represented Spartan Auto Group and the Criscuolo family in its sale of Toyota and Lexus dealerships in Central and Southeast Michigan: Spartan Toyota in Lansing, Wolverine Toyota in Dundee, Lexus of Ann Arbor and Lexus of Lansing. The dealerships were sold to Germain Automotive Partnership (Spartan Toyota, Wolverine Toyota, Lexus of Ann Arbor) and Serra Automotive (Lexus of Lansing). Serra Automotive is the 12e leading American automobile group. Transactions mark the 12e & 13e Lexus and 19e and 20e Toyota dealerships sold by Kerrigan Advisors since 2015, making the company the leading sales-side advisor to Toyota and Lexus dealerships in the industry.

“It was an honor for us to work with the Criscuolo family on this generational transaction,” said Ryan Kerrigan, managing director of Kerrigan Advisors. “The Criscuolos have been prominent representatives of Toyota and Lexus in Michigan since the 1980s and have been visionary partners for these Upper Midwest OEMs. Rosario Criscuolo will forever be remembered as a pioneer in automotive retail in the state of Michigan. These transactions further confirm the depth of interest from growing dealer groups in adding Toyota and Lexus dealerships to their portfolios. »

Established in 1984, Spartan Auto Group has become an integral part of the communities it serves, thanks to the values instilled by founder Rosario Criscuolo. The group’s high performance heritage is evidenced by its award-winning history: Spartan Toyota has won Toyota’s prestigious Chairman’s Award 10 times by excelling in sales satisfaction, service satisfaction, market, vehicle delivery excellence and employee training certification.

“Our dad taught us to focus on relationships. His credo was ‘relationships, not salesmanship’. That’s what made doing business in our dealerships such a special and memorable experience,” said said son and co-owner Derek Criscuolo “We are grateful to have experienced such a positive working relationship with Kerrigan Advisors, whose holistic, focused and sensitive approach throughout the process helped achieve all of the goals and objectives of our family.”

Rosario Criscuolo’s personal approach to car sales and service has helped create a unique Michigan atmosphere at Spartan Auto Group dealerships, whether in Ann Arbor, Dundee or Lansing. “Our dad created a small-town feel in all of our stores, and that was true even in dealerships that serviced big cities like Lansing,” said his daughter and co-owner Deanna Criscuolo. “This family feeling of comfort and belonging is his legacy, and we are grateful that with the support of Kerrigan Advisors at every step of the transaction process – from sales preparation and marketing to negotiations and closing – this legacy will be successfully passed on to Germain and Serra, two highly regarded Midwestern dealership groups.”

Toyota and Lexus are the franchises most sought after by buyers in today’s active buy/sell market, according to Kerrigan Advisors’ second quarter Blue Sky report. Toyota and Lexus’ industry-leading franchise sales, strong profitability, and strong dealer/OEM relationships make these franchises very attractive investments for most growing dealer groups. Kerrigan reports that nearly as many Toyota franchises traded hands in the first half of 2022 as Chevrolet, Ford and Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram (CJDR) franchises, despite having less than half the number of U.S. franchises. Additionally, Lexus has the highest sales per franchise of any luxury franchise, outperforming BMW and Mercedes by 31% and 46% respectively, and the fewest number of dealerships in its network for major luxury brands, which results in a highly profitable and valuable franchise network.

“We were proud to lead these transactions for Spartan Auto Group and guide them to well-established buyers with strong ties to the region,” said Erin Kerrigan, Founder and Managing Director of Kerrigan Advisors. “The success of these dealerships is a tribute to both the Criscuolo family and the power of the Toyota and Lexus brands, illustrating how the combination of decades of dedication to building the business, exceptional dealer/OEM relationships and ‘a good-sized franchise network translates into high valuations.’

The transactions mark the 167th, 168th, 169th and 170th franchises sold by Kerrigan Advisors since 2015, bringing the total number of franchise sales they have conducted in 2022 to 40, and marking their 8the multi-dealer transaction for the year.

The deal with Georgica Auto is Franchise Equity Partners’ first investment in dealerships, said Don Reese, CEO of the company’s automotive unit and former executive at used-car retailer DriveTime. LaNeve, a former director of sales and marketing for Ford Motor Co. and General Motors, is president of that unit.

Franchise Equity Partners said last November it intended to spend about $400 million on minority stakes in car dealerships over a three-year period.

Sobel and Reese declined to disclose Franchise Equity Partners’ percentage stake in Georgica Auto, but confirmed “it is a minority stake.”

“Jon is basically our North East guy, and we’d like to continue growing with him in the North East,” Reese said. “And we are looking to do that in other parts of the country.”

Sobel described Georgica Auto as a newly formed entity created to facilitate the transaction with Franchise Equity Partners. Georgica Auto has dealerships in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Sobel’s dealership portfolio represents domestic, imported and luxury brands.

Sobel noted that one of its stores, Jaguar-Land Rover Manhattan, already has a minority partner and, therefore, is separated from the investment by Georgica Auto and Franchise Equity Partners.

Franchise Equity Partners is backed by New York-based investment firm HPS Investment Partners. HPS has allocated $1 billion to fund Franchise Equity Partners, which targets investments in five areas: auto dealerships, restaurants, heavy equipment dealerships, beverage distributors, and consumer services such as health and safety. beauty.

Franchise Equity Partners was co-founded by Michael Esposito and Scott Romanoff, who are the firm’s managing partners. Both Esposito and Romanoff are former partners at Goldman Sachs. This connection was key to that first deal as Sobel, also a former Goldman Sachs partner, knew the pair.

“It seemed like a very logical investment for them,” Sobel said. “And they seemed like a great strategic partner to me.”

Reese said Franchise Equity Partners was working on other investments but declined to talk about pending deals.

“Our deal flow has been very active,” Reese said.

Northeast Growth

Sobel said he hasn’t bought or sold any franchises so far in 2022. But the deal with Franchise Equity Partners follows an active 2021 for him in the buy-sell market.

Sobel sold Alfa Romeo of Manhattan-Maserati of Manhattan and Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram-Fiat of Manhattan in New York to Dennis & Co. Auto Group in December.

In July 2021, Sobel purchased two Audi dealerships and a Porsche store in suburban Philadelphia. Sobel also purchased a Chevrolet-Buick-GMC dealership in central New York City from Auburn that summer, he noted, which followed the acquisition of three Auburn stores in February 2021.

Enter the multiverse, not the metaverse

Erika Wheless of Ad Age reports on an AWNY panel exploring the economics of game creators:

Metaverse is a must-have buzzword in the industry, but a better term for space right now is multiverseaccording to Tommy Huthansel, Vice President, Director of Partnerships and Dentsu Gaming, Dentsu International.

And no, he doesn’t mean in the Dr. Strange sense.

“The metaverse is the experience layer on the internet,” Huthansel explained during an AWNY panel titled “Gaming’s Creator Economy: Marketers’ Gateway to the Metaverse.” “But right now they are different multiverses. You have Roblox and Minecraft, Decentraland and Sandbox, Meta’s Horizons. These are all part of it. But what will really define the metaverse is interoperability, where you can transfer an item from one game to another, like in the movie “Wreck-It Ralph.”

Another panelist, Minecraft content creator and YouTuber Jerome Aceti, agreed. “I envision a virtual passport connecting everything, where you maybe take your shirt or your favorite sword as a gaming NFT that follows you where you play,” he said.

Aceti also encouraged brands to consider certain Web2 games as a stepping stone to Web3: “I actually think the technology behind AR is a more realistic step, like what you see with Pokémon Go. don’t have the money for a VR headset or the graphics card to support it, but a lot of us have phones, and so I think we’ll see more metaverse stuff emerge there.

It’s almost an understatement to say that off-road SUVs are all the rage these days. And it’s not just jeep wrangler it’s a hot product either. The demand for all-terrain vehicles is so high that Subaru added the Wilderness trim to several of its models, Ford was able to justify bring back the Broncoand even the old Toyota 4Runner constantly sells the sticker above. But has GMC brought the Jimmy back to capture its own piece of this segment? No, he hasn’t.

Like this Custom GMC Jimmy from the Flat Out Autos shows, it really should be, because that stuff is cool. We saw it first on Autoblog and were immediately annoyed. It’s the kind of awesome off-road SUV that GMC dealers should have on their lots right now, but for some reason it takes a custom shop to make it a reality.

It’s no snub at Flat Out Autos, either. Their website is lacking in detail, but from the abundance of photos they have of their concept, it’s clearly well done. For now, it appears to be a one-off build they plan to show at SEMA, but we’d like to believe that after the show, Flat Out will start taking orders for at least a limited number of Jimmys. Hopefully lots of Jimmys.

The amount of work required to build each one probably means it will take a lot of money to put one in your driveway, but come on. It’s a new Jimmy with a removable hardtop. How many other people will you meet driving one of these?

It’s also a great reminder that Chevrolet really missed the mark with the new Blazer. Maybe if it sold like crazy, maybe Chevy could say “I told you so” for the skeptics. But while Jeep sold 147,000 Wranglers and Toyota even managed to sell 93,000 4Runners this year, Chevrolet only moved 50,000 Blazers. That’s not even enough sales to beat the Ford Edge. I guess it’s still better than the Honda Pilot?

It looks like GM decided to leave so many sales on the table by bringing the Blazer back as a mainstream crossover. Maybe that couldn’t have made the removable hardtop work on a truck-based Blazer or Jimmy, but it could have at least given us something more desirable than the Blazer we have right now. Or saved the name of a future off-roader by calling the Blazer the CamaroCross or something. I do not know. I’m not in marketing.

This seems like a major missed opportunity on GM’s part, which leaves stores like Flat Out earning all that sweet Jimmy cash.
