Boutte man killed in single-vehicle crash in Jefferson Parish – The Observer

WestwegoOn July 26, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police B Troop troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on US 90 west near Live Oak Boulevard. The accident ultimately claimed the life of 53-year-old Terry Ralph de Boutte.

Initial investigation revealed that Ralph was driving a 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck towing an enclosed trailer west on US 90 near Live Oak Boulevard. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevrolet left the roadway to the right and crashed into a guardrail before entering a drainage channel, where it was partially submerged.

Ralph, who was not restrained, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Ralph’s impairment is unknown and routine toxicology results are pending.

Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of making safe decisions while driving. Although not all accidents result in survival, wearing a seat belt greatly reduces the chances of being killed or seriously injured in an accident. Avoid distractions that take the driver’s attention away from the road. Having a plan and making safe decisions could make the difference for tomorrow.
