Back-to-back collision on Route 138 on Saturday morning kills 2 men – CBS Los Angeles

PEARBLOSSOM (CBSLA) – A 21-year-old driver and his 49-year-old passenger were killed on Saturday in a two-vehicle collision on the Pearblossom Highway (138), authorities said.

The crash on SR 138 at East 133rd Street happened just before 3 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.

A 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck heading west on Eastbound Lane # 1, east of 133rd Street East, crashed head-on into a 2020 Ford sedan, causing the Chevrolet to overturn and land on its roof, said the CHP.

The 21-year-old Rancho Cucamonga resident and his 49-year-old passenger, a San Bernardino resident, were not wearing seat belts and died at the scene. The driver of the Ford sedan, the only occupant in the vehicle, was not injured. It was not immediately clear whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Authorities said the victims were the 52nd and 53rd deaths this year in the jurisdiction of the CHP of Antelope Valley.

CHP’s Antelope Valley regional office urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 661-948-8541.
